Dunkin' Donuts continues to grow its presence on college campuses around the country. The company's nontraditional campus footprint includes full retail shops and kiosks for campus centers, unions and dining commons locations.
"Universities are increasingly looking for more amenities to offer campus residents and visitors, and our brand's flexible design options couple convenience with great-tasting food and America's favorite coffee," said Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of franchising and business development, Dunkin' Brands. "As we continue our expansion, both east and west of the Mississippi, we have a continued focus on recruiting qualified operators to grow our presence at colleges around the country."
The list of universities that have recently opened new Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in 2013 or plan to open new locations by January 2014 includes:
- Westfield University (second location)
- Norwich University
- Merrimack College
- University of Rhode Island (opening two locations)
- University of Alabama Huntsville
- Brandeis University
- Wayne State University
These institutions join other colleges that have brought Dunkin' Donuts to campus in the last two years, including Emory University, Providence College, University of Baltimore and Virginia Tech.
Boston Scream returns for Halloween
Also, Dunkin' Donuts, has brought back its seasonal Boston Scream Donut, a variation of the classic Boston Kreme donut, available through Halloween at participating restaurants nationwide.
And, Dunkin' Donuts is hosting its second annual #dresseDD Twitter and Instagram Contest for the chance to win a $100 mGift. From now through Oct. 28, fans are encouraged to tweet @DunkinDonuts on Twitter or Instagram photos of their Dunkin' Donuts cups "dressed" up in a Halloween costume, using the special hashtag #dresseDD.
On Oct. 31, Dunkin' Donuts will share the photos of five winners selected for their creativity and Halloween spirit, and each will win a $100 mGift.
Additionally, Munchkins donut hole treats now come packed in a limited-edition, Halloween-themed box.
Finally, this month, Dunkin' Donuts is encouraging use of its mobile app, offering guests the chance to receive $1 off the regular price of a dozen donuts, and $1 off the regular price of any size Coolatta frozen beverage through the "My Offers" tab of the app. The app also includes Dunkin' Donuts Cards with seasonal designs, such as zombies rising from the ground with coffee in hand, and vampires encouraging everyone to "stay calm and drink coffee."
