Google has announced its 13th annual Zeitgeist results, showing what users searched for the most during the year. Once again, Pizza Hut was the top searched restaurant brand, followed — also once again — by Domino's.
Unlike last year, however, Papa John's was not third. It did not make the list.
The remaining 10 brands were: Starbucks, No. 3; McDonald's, No. 4; Jimmy John's, No. 5; Subway, No. 6; Olive Garden, No. 7; Buffalo Wild Wings, No. 8; Applebees, No. 9; and Chipotle, No. 10.
The top social media site searches went to Tumblr (No. 1), Facebook (No. 2) and LinkedIn (No. 3). They were followed, in order, by SoundCloud, Google+, Goodreads, Wattpad, Yelp, MocoSpace and deviantART.
The top 10 diet searches in 2013 were led by the Paleo Diet. This was followed by the juice cleanse diet, Mediterranean diet, Master Cleanse diet, Ketogenic diet, Okinawa diet, omnivore diet, fruitarian diet, Pescetarian diet and Flexitarian diet.
Consumers also wanted to learn more about gluten (No. 5 on the "What is?" list), Snapchat (No. 9) and Bitcoin (No. 10). Thanks to Miley Cyrus, "twerking" was the top curiosity in 2013.
