Muscogee and Okmulgee Oklahoma will be the launching point for a major expansion of the Rex's Chicken brand within the next three months.
According to a news release, under an agreement signed in early 2013, the Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise plans to open Rex's Chicken locations in its new travel plazas by March, starting with Muscogee and Okmulgee, and then in more travel plazas and casinos throughout Oklahoma.
"The opportunity here with the Muscogee Creek Nation is a dream come true," Camille Rutkauskas, chief creative officer, said in a news release. "I believe Rex's is not only a concept that offers our customers terrific dining options, but one where the food is really the star. I can't tell you how excited we are to be experiencing this incredible breakthrough and the opportunity to expand into additional Native American nations."
The Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise just recently bought the rights to bring the Rex's Chicken restaurant to its eight-county jurisdictional area.
Rex's was founded in 1951. David Rutkauskas, CEO, obtained the rights in 2007 and opened a location in Tulsa, Okla., in 2008. Since then, Rutkauskas has partnered with Curtis Branch who bought the Tulsa location and is the Master Franchisee for Oklahoma.
