For the third year in a row, Subway topped YouGov BrandIndex's annual rankings of the best perceived QSRs, generating 29.4 points in the 2013 rankings, ahead of No. 2 Wendy's, which had 19 points.
For the 2013 rankings, they were followed by:
3. Pizza Hut, 16.4 points;
4. Burger King, 12 points;
5. Chick-fil-A, 11.9 points.
According to YouGov BrandIndex, Subway's scores topped the 2013 list because of campaigns such as its "Fresh Fit Meals" during the Super Bowl, and its 50th birthday celebrations. YouGov also notes Subway's "Avocado Love" campaign that ran during the summer.
Subway was the only restaurant brand listed in the top 10 overall list, which was topped by Amazon and Ford, respectively.
Wendy's was recognized for its healthier menu launches such as its grilled chicken flatbread introduced in the spring.
As compared to the 2012 rankings, Subway and Wendy's maintained their top spots, while Pizza Hut moved up to No. 3 from No. 4 in 2012. Dairy Queen (No. 3 in 2012) and Dunkin' Donuts (No. 5 in 2012) dropped out of the rankings this year, and were replaced by Burger King and Chick-fil-A.
YouGov also measured the top movers in buzz scores year over year. In 2013, Green Burrito ranked No. 1, followed by Rubio's and Wienerschnitzel.
For its annual ranking, YouGov BrandIndex crunches the data from 1.2 million people in 2013, interviewing 4,300 people each weekday from a representative U.S. population sample.
