Captain D's announced today that it set an all-time Average Unit Volume sales record in 2013. According to a news release, the 45-year-old brand turned in a systemwide same-store sales increase of 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter, and increases of 3.2 percent for the entire year.
This is on top of an 8.3 percent increase in 2012. In addition to sales growth, Captain D's has opened 60 new or remodeled restaurants that feature the all new beach design. The brand has also signed multi-unit agreements to expand in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.
"Captain D's had another record breaking year in 2013," said Phil Greifeld, CEO and president of Captain D's. "We continue to see compounding sales growth, which has clearly demonstrated the tremendous growth potential of Captain D's. The next step in the evolution of our brand is to pursue aggressive unit growth through franchised and corporate locations."
Captain D's is focusing on its new Fire Grilled Menu to kick off 2014. It will be offered at all locations by the end of the first quarter and includes new menu items such as grilled white fish, shrimp skewers, and Surf and Turf.
There is also a new 3D Kids Program that features new grilled fish tenders that meet the National Restaurant Association's Kid's LiveWell nutritional guidelines. The meals are $3.99 and come with two sides, a fun pack, 3D glasses and more.
