As the QSR minimum wage debate continues, Craig Culver, co-founder and CEO of Culver's, has suggested a bit of a compromise. He told Wisconsin Public Radio last week that he supports higher base wages for adult workers.
According to Madison.com, Culver backs a "two-tiered approach" that would establish a minimum wage for teenage employees, and a higher wage for adults.
He suggests a rate of $8 per hour for employees between 14 and 17 years old, and a $10.10 amoung for those 18 and older.
The story said Culver's restaurants implement a similar approach, with a three-tiered system: 14 and 15 year olds make the minimum wage; 16 and 17 year olds make $1 more; and adults make "around $10 an hour."
"This has been something I've felt was a good idea for many, many years," Culver said on the radio program. "But it's never flown."
