In honor of St. Patrick's Day, Carvel is offering customers a free shot of green at participating stores. On March 17 only, the chain will give away free toppings of its new Flavor Shotz flavors, including pistachio and mint.
The St. Patrick's Day celebration kicks off the launch of new Carvel Flavor Shotz, which allow dessert lovers to "Call Their Own Shotz" by choosing 1 (or more) of 12 delicious "shotz" of flavor to top or blend into a fresh-made ice cream treat.
"Today's consumer wants variety, and that's exactly what our new Flavor Shotz provide," said Carvel vice president of marketing, Lori Peterson, in a news release. "We already pride ourselves on making the freshest, best tasting ice cream available. Flavor Shotz simply take our offerings to the next level by giving guests the power to create whatever taste and flavor combinations they choose."
New Carvel Flavor Shotz flavors include Acai Berry, Banana, Black Raspberry, Blueberry, Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy, Mango, Mint, Orange, Peach, Pistachio and Pomegranate.

Other quick-service chains are offering limited-time-only green menu items in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Available throughout the month of March, McDonald's in select markets has returned its Shamrock Shake, which features green coloring and mint flavoring. The limited availability of the shake has sparked the creation of shamrockshake.com, a site that allows readers to post where they've found or can't find the shakes.
Dairy Queen also has returned a seasonal favorite to its Blizzard of the Month line up: the Mint Oreo Blizzard featuring crumbled Oreo Cookies blended in mint-flavored, green-colored soft serve.
