Inspired by what he saw as false science in the documentary Super Size Me, health writer and comedian Tom Naughton undertook his own fast-food diet with startingly different results. According to The (Montreal) Gazette, in his DVD Fat Head, he shares the story of how he lost 12 pounds and lowered his body fat and cholesterol while eating fast food for a month and undergoing an exercise regimen.

Naughton also points out the obvious but often overlooked: that anyone, fast-food lover or not, will benefit from a little exercise and that the onus is on the eater — not the purveyor — to get off one's butt. Naughton favours walking. "Problem is that American kids are inactive and adults are inert," says Naughton, who blames the tube and Internet for these conditions.
