In just two weeks, Tim Hortons customers have donated $700,000 (Canadian dollars) for UNICEF to help children affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
From Jan. 18 to Feb. 1, coin boxes in more than 3,000 participating Tim Hortons stores and drive thrus across Canada and the United States, collected funds for UNICEF's Haiti earthquake relief efforts. This generous customer donation is in addition to the $100,000 corporate donation already made to UNICEF on behalf of Tim Hortons store owners, their staff and all corporate offices.
"This really proves that it doesn't matter how much you give — whether it's a nickel or dime or a quarter — it all adds up," Tim Hortons president and CEO Don Schroeder said in a news release. "And in this case, it adds up to well over half a million dollars to help the children of Haiti."
