Frozen dessert chain Tasti D-Lite has launched its new TastiRewards loyalty program with a promotion that helps members earn reward points by sharing their loyalty earnings with friends via social media.
The TastiRewards promotion allows members to earn points in multiple ways, beginning iwth registering their "TreatCards" online at They then continue to earn points for purchases made at participating Tasti D-Lite locations.
Customers can sign up for the TastiRewards loyalty program in-store or online. For each pre-tax dollar spent at participating Tasti centers, customers earn one loyalty point; 50 points earn members a free medium-sized Tasti treat.
Tweet for points
The promotion also features a social media component that encourages members to opt-in and enable their account to automatically send messages via Twitter and Foursquare when points are earned or redeemed. As messages are being "tweeted" or sent, a link to will also be included. An example of a message is: "I just scored 5 TastiRewards points at Tasti D-Lite Columbus Circle, NYC!"
Along with the message, Foursquare users will automatically be "checkedin" at the Tasti D-Lite location.
"We found many customers were already sharing their experiences at Tasti D-Lite locations with their friends on Twitter and Foursquare," said BJ Emerson, director of information and social technologies for Tasti D-Lite. "So that gave us the idea to build into our program the ability to reward them for doing just that."
Rollout schedule
TastiRewards will initially be rolled out in 10 Tasti D-Lite locations across the country in areas such as Scottsdale, Ariz.,  Nashville, Houston and Miami Beach, with a national rollout scheduled for the spring.
Since its inception in 1987, Tasti D-Lite's popularity has grown largely by word of mouth and has resulted in a large, loyal fan base. Tasti D-Lite features frozen desserts that are significantly lower in fat, calories and carbs than ice cream.
