KFC has introduced a new $5 meal, the $5 Madden NFL Box, now available at U.S. KFC restaurants. The meal includes a choice of one of six KFC favorites, a side item and a 32-ounce drink in a Madden NFL cup for only $5.
The Madden NFL Box offers guests the choice of two pieces of Kentucky Grilled Chicken, three Original Recipe Strips, a Twister Sandwich, five Hot Wings, five Honey BBQ Wings or two pieces of Original Recipe Chicken. The four cups feature NFL players Calvin Johnson Jr., Philip Rivers, DeMarcus Ware and Brian Westbrook.
KFC is extending its marketing sponsorship of the NFL with several new promotions, including a video game giveaway featuring special codes on the $5 Madden NFL Box. KFC, the National Football League, EA Sports and NFL Players have teamed up to offer the "200 Games a Day Giveaway."
A total of 6,000 games will be given away in 30 days, with another 250 being given away in the next 30 days. Game codes are available on both the 32-ounce drink and KFC's Madden NFL Box. Customers may visit the company's Web site through Nov. 23 to check their codes to see if they are among the 200 daily winners.
The code on KFC's Madden NFL Box also gives gamers a $10 discount on the video game Madden NFL 10 and free standard shipping from via EA Sports Web site.
The four NFL players featured on the Madden NFL cups also will lend support to commercials for KFC's Madden NFL Box. The Madden NFL 10 game characters and voices of Johnson, Rivers, Ware and Westbrook are featured in two KFC television commercials promoting the offer. NFL Players, the licensing and marketing subsidiary of the NFL Players Association, provided KFC and Madden NFL 10 with the rights to use player names and likenesses in the game and promotion.
Twitter contest
Next week, KFC will announce details of a Super Bowl giveaway exclusively on Twitter.
