SonicWALL Inc., a leading secure network infrastructure company, has announced that Burger King franchisee Dolphin Fast Food Inc., a subsidiary of Dolphin Staffing, has successfully consolidated the wireless networks at its 19 Burger King stores using a SonicWALL TZ Series and NSA Series Unified Threat Management (UTM) firewalls.
"SonicWALL helps us comply with both PCI and Burger King corporate policy (including the ability to block content inappropriate) while simplifying the whole process of restaurant computer communications and WiFi," said Greg Dolphin, president of Minneapolis-based Dolphin Fast Food.
As a benefit to its Burger King customers, Dolphin Fast Food provides free-of-charge guest Internet access in each of its franchise dining rooms over a wireless local area network (WLAN). Each site also has a separate, segregated network for the LAN supporting the point-of-sale cash register system and secured WLAN supporting the staff wireless. The company's original wireless deployment required the purchase, deployment and maintenance of a separate firewall, wireless access controller and DMZ router device for each location.
Dolphin's systems administrator Adam Gilman engaged the assistance of Mytech Partners Inc., a SonicWALL Gold Medallion Partner, in selecting a better, more consolidated solution. The consolidated SonicWALL solution has eliminated cost and complexity, while enhancing wireless security.
The solution also has improved performance and productivity as well as simplified security administration.
