Krispy Kreme returns football doughnuts to lineup

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. has kicked off the gridiron season with the return of its football doughnuts. Beginning today, the football-shaped treats topped with chocolate icing and white iced laces are available at participating stores nationwide.

Now through Sept. 30, participating stores will offer special "Tailgate Packs," which include one dozen football doughnuts and one dozen Krispy Kreme signature Original Glazed doughnuts. Football doughnuts are also available in custom team colors by calling a local participating Krispy Kreme store at least 48 hours in advance.

Starting Oct. 1, football doughnuts will be available only on weekends until Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 7.
