A manager of a Sunset Hill, Mo., Burger King asked a customer to put shoes on her six-month-old baby to comply with the store's policy requiring customers to wear shoes and shirts, according to a story by KTVI Fox St. Louis.
The mother, Jennifer Frederich, said she protested that her baby couldn't walk and posed no health issues, but the manager cited the store's policy and threatened to call police if she didn't comply. Frederich was part of a large group who ate quickly and left the store. She said she felt compelled to share her story on Facebook, drawing multiple posts of others' reactions to the incident.
Burger King Corp. released the following statement regarding the incident:
"Our franchisee, which independently owns and operates this restaurant, apologizes for this guest's experience. The franchisee is retraining his restaurant team on the proper use of the "no shoes" policy. Furthermore, the franchisee has also contacted the guest to apologize about this incident."
