The Arizona Republic: An Arby's restaurant franchisee has saved as much as $800 a month per location in energy costs with Web-based thermostat controls.
 
FX4 owns 55 Arby's in the state, and the company began testing the Web-based EcoView Commercial smart energy and resource management system last year.
 
The EcoView systems cost about $1,000 for the hardware and installation, and the software costs $40 a month. The franchisee expects the systems to pay for themselves in energy savings within three to six months.
