The Sydney Morning Herald: KFC has launched its grilled alternative and pledged to cut salt levels in its food in Australia. The chain wants to improve the nutritional value of its products by reviewing its cooking oils as well as reduce salt content. A pilot program in Tasmania has cut the salt content of all KFC products sold in the state by 10 percent.

The moves follow the release of a report highlighting the salt content of products sold by major fast food companies. KFC topped a list for the burger with the highest salt content — its Zinger Double BBQ Bacon and Cheese Burger had 2,410 mg of salt. McDonald's was named as offering products with the lowest salt levels overall.
