Sony Pictures Television and Marvel Entertainment have joined forces with McDonald's on the creation of a specially branded Happy Meal program based on the animated series "The Spectacular Spider-Man." The meals will be available for a four-week period, Feb. 27-March 26, at participating restaurants in the United States while supplies last.
"The Spectacular Spider-Man" U.S. Happy Meal will feature a collection of eight action figures, including Spider-Man Suction Cup, Dr. Octopus, Spider-Man Swinging, Venom, Spider-Man Launcher, Green Goblin, Spider-Man Crawling, and Sandman.
In addition to television commercials, further marketing support includes in-store signage and displays. Kids also can check out McWorld, McDonald's virtual world at Happymeal.com, to meet up with Spectacular Spider-Man, play an interactive game and customize their avatar with Spectacular Spider-Man gear.
The promotion will continue to roll out in more than 10,000 McDonald's restaurants around the world throughout March, April and May. "The Spectacular Spider-Man" animated series, produced by Culver Entertainment, a Sony Pictures Television Co. in association with Marvel Entertainment, launches March 23 at 7:30 Eastern time on Disney XD.
