Arby's launches 'Fan of the Week' program

Arby's has launched a new program, "Arby's Fan of the Week," in honor of reaching its 2 millionth Facebook fan. As part of the program, the chain will randomly choose a new fan each week to receive the title of "Fan of the Week" and a $25 Arby's gift card.

To enter, fans upload a photo of themselves enjoying a meal at their local Arby's to the dedicated Facebook application. A new winner will be announced each Friday.

To kick off the new initiative, Arby's named Donelle Norblom from Denver as its first Fan of the Week. In 1970, Norblom was identified as Arby's 2 millionth customer and was therefore designated Arby's "original 2 millionth fan" this week.

Arby's will reward anyone who can prove that they were friends with Norblom in 1970 with lunch on the house. Friends who upload a photo of themselves with her at that time, via the Facebook application, will receive a $25 Arby's gift certificate.

"Becoming the 2 millionth Arby's customer in 1970 made me really popular in school that year," Norblom said. "I'm so excited to be able to celebrate this new Facebook milestone with Arby's more than 40 years later."

The celebratory photo and video of Norblom becoming the 2 millionth Facebook fan is available on Arby's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

"We are really moved by the continued support of our Facebook fans, as we have garnered more than 1 million new fans in less than one year," said Bob Kraut, senior vice president of Brand Marketing & Advertising, Arby's Restaurant Group Inc. "To celebrate this milestone, we are building on a unique moment in our history by recreating a photo of Donelle on the day she became our 2 millionth customer in 1970 in order to commemorate her helping us to reach 2 million Facebook fans."
