Auntie Anne's will be one of two restaurant concepts spotlighted during the first season of a new reality television series on A&E called "Be the Boss."
The series was made by the creators of the Emmy Award-winning show "Undercover Boss," and follows two lower-level employees as they compete for what they think is a large promotion. In reality, however, they're competing to be a franchise owner.
In each episode, the CEO summons two deserving candidates to the company headquarters and subsequently puts them through a series of challenges to see if they have what it takes to be a senior manager. The winner is then surprised when they actually win the keys to their own franchised establishment. Startup fees, etc. are all waived.
Auntie Anne's will be featured on Dec. 16. Some of the challenges include hiring a team, coming up with a new pretzel, selling the product to skeptical consumers and running a store during the busiest day of the week – shipment day.
"Be the Boss," will premiere on Dec. 2 at 10 p.m. Other brands to be featured during the first season include Molly Maid, The Melting Pot and Jazzercise.
