Burgerville introduces Albacore and Summer Slaw combo

Burgerville's latest seasonal menu addition of Ale Battered Albacore and Summer Slaw was introduced today. The limited-time items were inspired by Burgerville's most recent "community champion" Jamie Emerson.

Emerson's commitment to sustainable practices at Full Sail Brewing, in Hood River, Ore., earned him the recognition. The partnership with Full Sail Brewing is new for Burgerville with a local, family-owned business. The Ale Battered Albacore and Summer Slaw is:

  • Marine Stewardship Council certified Albacore Tuna longline caught off the West Coast.
  • Rated green (best choice) on the MSC Pocket Good Fish Guide.
  • Processed locally by Odyssey Seafood in Seattle, Wash.
  • Battered with a batter made with Full Sail Amber Ale.

The Summer Slaw combines red and green cabbage, carrots, red onion, fresh mint from Herb Thyme Farms and dried Oregon cranberries from Meduri Farms in the Willamette Valley. The slaw dressing is made to Burgerville's custom recipe by Barhyte Specialty Foods in Pendleton, Ore.

Cost is $7.59 for an entree and $10.59 for a basket.

Burgerville's seasonal offerings are chosen to support self-reliant communities in the areas the chain serves. The restaurant seeks self-supporting and sustainable efforts for its rotating menu items.

A portion of every Ale Battered Albacore and Summer Slaw sold during its six-week promotion will go toward Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation and will support the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center at Oregon Health and Science University. The center treats children and adults with diabetes, and trains diabetes specialists.
