Carl's Jr. and Hardee's deploy new PAR POS terminal globally

Feb. 19, 2013

ParTech Inc. (PAR), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation, announced today that CKE Restaurants Inc. has selected the new PAR EverServ 7700 POS for its Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants. After a testing and certification process by CKE, the EverServ 7700 terminal is now approved and certified for all Carl's Jr. and Hardee's corporate owned and franchised locations worldwide.

"The EverServ 7700's innovative design with centralized port connectivity and easy access to major components will simplify the service of the terminal and maximize our uptime," said Tom Lindblom, vice president of IT and chief technology officer, CKE Restaurants Inc. "The modular design of the EverServ 7700 will enable our restaurants to upgrade key components as needs change (CPU, memory, touch screen, disk drives and customer displays), which will maximize the life of the POS terminals and the return on our technology investment. We also like the sleek new design and small footprint of the PAR terminal, which complements the image of our newly remodeled stores."

CKE Restaurants has had a relationship with PAR for the past 10 years. According to Jeff Chasney, executive vice president, Strategic Planning and chief information officer, the company has conducted extensive lab testing and certification of PAR's new EverServ 7700 terminal, including deployments at four pilot sites.

"The performance has been outstanding. We are confident that the innovative design of the EverServ 7700 will provide our franchisees the best combination of durability, performance, scalability and serviceability that will result in the lowest total cost of ownership," he said.

CKE selected the top of the line EverServ 7700 model with an Intel i5 processor and POSReady 7 operating system to deliver optimal performance and extend the lifespan of the terminal by not limiting future applications. The EverServ 7700 was designed to be backward compatible with many previous models of printers and cash drawers, which will enable CKE to use its existing peripherals to reduce the total cost of ownership.

The POS rollout at CKE corporate locations commenced in mid December with 409 stores completed by Jan. 31. The remaining locations are being installed and the rollout will be completed by the end of June 2013. PAR will is staging, delivering, installing and disposing existing terminals for the CKE POS project and will continue to provide maintenance services for the CKE restaurants.
