Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are spicing up the holidays with the introduction of the Jalapeno Turkey Burger. The newest addition to the award-winning charbroiled turkey burger line comes in at 490 calories.

The charbroiled Jalapeno Turkey Burger features sliced jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and Santa Fe sauce, served on a whole wheat bun with sliced red onion, lettuce and tomato. It is available starting at $3.49. Prices may vary by location.

"Carl's Jr. and Hardee's were the first fast food chains to introduce turkey burgers across the nation and they are still very popular almost two years later," said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer at CKE Restaurants, parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's brands. "Their popularity stems from the fact that they still offer the kind of great taste and indulgence that all of our burgers are famous for but, because they are charbroiled turkey burgers, they also offer a lighter, lower-calorie alternative to beef burgers. Our latest addition to the line, the new Jalapeno Turkey Burger, is no exception."

During a recent earnings call, executives said the turkey burger line generates strong consumer acceptance, particularly throughout California.
