Del Taco plans 25 units in San Antonio market

Sept. 4, 2013

Del Taco has announced the opening of its first of 25 locations planned for the San Antonio market. The new restaurant opened today at 10926 Culebra Road, and includes a 70-seat dining room, a salsa bar and drive-thru that will be open 24-hours. This restaurant will serve breakfast from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. and offers free WiFi.

Del Taco's 25 locations will be a combination of company-owned and franchised restaurants.

Newest creation: CrunchTadas

Additionally, Del Taco announced today the introduction of the CrunchTada Tostada and CrunchTada Pizzas. They represent the first new menu introductions since Del Taco relaunched its brand earlier this year.

The CrunchTada Tostada features a thick corn shell, for "unmatched crunchiness," according to a company press release. It also includes layers of slow-cooked beans, freshly-grated cheddar cheese, Del Taco's signature taco sauce and lettuce. Priced at $1, the CrunchTada Tostada is the latest addition to the brand's Buck & Under Menu.

The Beef CrunchTada Pizza includes slow-cooked beans, seasoned beef, nacho cheese, taco sauce, freshly-grated cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and cilantro on top of the same thick corn shell.

The Chicken CrunchTada Pizza features slow-cooked beans, marinated grilled chicken, nacho cheese, creamy chipotle sauce, freshly-grated cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and cilantro. CrunchTada Pizzas are available a la carte or in a meal with a regular taco and a small drink.

The Beef CrunchTada Pizza ($2.29) and Chicken CrunchTada Pizza ($2.49) have more toppings than the Tostada.

"The CrunchTada Tostada and CrunchTada Pizzas represent a step forward in Del Taco's promise to deliver new menu innovations," said John Cappasola, executive vice president and chief brand officer at Del Taco. "Creating the new CrunchTada line reinforces our commitment to deliver quality items made with freshly-prepared ingredients at the best possible value."
