Dunkin' Donuts to showcase fans in Times Square on New Year's Eve

Beginning today, Dunkin' Donuts' "Top of the WorlDD" Photo and Video Contest gives the brand's Facebook fans the chance to start 2013 "at the top" by having their image broadcast over the "Crossroads of the World" in Times Square on its busiest night, New Year's Eve.

Fans can submit their celebratory photos and/or videos wishing their loved ones a happy New Year to a special tab on the Dunkin' Donuts Facebook page. One photo and one video submission will each win the grand prize of a pair of JetBlue tickets. Ten first prize photo and 10 first prize video submission winners (20 total) will each receive a $50 Dunkin' Donuts Card. Dunkin' Donuts will select at least one video and one photo to be shown on the Dunkin' Donuts digital billboard atop Times Square on New Year's Eve and into New Year's Day, along with a special series of messages from Dunkin' Donuts created for the billboard for New Year's Eve.

Additionally, the brand also launched a Dunkin' K-Cup packs K-ountDDown promotion, offering fans the chance to enter to win a daily prize pack. The daily prize pack includes a Keurig K-Cup brewer, a six month supply of Dunkin' Donuts K-Cup packs and a $20 Dunkin' Donuts Card. At the end of the promotion, five grand prize winners will receive $2,500 they can put toward their home or rent payments in 2013.

Company names new vice presidents

Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. also today announced the appointments of Maryanne Knott as as vice president of Tax, and Susan Scherer as regional vice president of the South Central region.

Knott will hold responsibility for Dunkin' Brands' foreign, federal, state and local tax strategies. She will report to Paul Carbone, chief financial officer for Dunkin' Brands. Knott joins Dunkin' Brands from Deloitte Tax LLP of Boston, where she served for more than 12 years in a number of roles, most recently as director. She led engagement teams for public and closely-held companies in the retail, consumer products and telecommunications industries. Her experience also includes positions with Neiman Marcus, The Stop & Shop Companies and Price Waterhouse.

Knott is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts, and she holds a JD from Suffolk University School of Law and a BSBA in Accounting from Providence College.

In her new role, Scherer will provide support to Dunkin' Brands' franchisees and field teams throughout the South Central United States. She will report to Weldon Spangler, vice president, Dunkin' Donuts Operations U.S. and Canada. Scherer's experience includes more than 25 years in or related to the foodservice industry, including positions as president/co-owner of Gasket Guy and Gal Inc., and as division vice president, Papa John's International. She earned a BS in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from Pennsylvania State University.

In addition to the appointments of Knott and Scherer, Dunkin' Brands today announced two promotions within the company. Spangler has been promoted to vice president, Dunkin' Donuts Operations U.S. and Canada. In this new role, he will lead Dunkin' Donuts' field operations team and will continue to report to Paul Twohig, senior vice president and chief operating officer, Dunkin' Donuts U.S. and Canada.

Jesse Schlueter has been promoted to vice president, Global Learning. Under her direction, Dunkin' Brands' Global Learning Team will develop new ways to deliver innovative learning programs for company franchisees, restaurant managers and field employees.
