The Famous Wok family of restaurants is set to begin rolling out digital signage menu boards from E Display Inc. to its locations across the U.S. and Canada, according to an announcement from the digital signage company.
E Display Inc., a turnkey digital signage solution provider, said it has initiated deploying digital menu boards for Famous Wok to allow the quick-service restaurant chain to lift sales of promoted items and steadily cycle through its menu features and promotions with minimal cost or effort.
The Famous Wok restaurant brand family includes Kung Pao Wok, Sizzling Wok and Flaming Wok with a franchise network that is spread across the U.S. and Canada offering Chinese cuisine.
According to the announcement, the move was spurred because the cost of replacing menus and promotional printed materials for the chain's outdated static menu displays throughout the year was becoming unsustainable. Also, price changes were becoming more frequent but were being held up or put off due to the long turnaround and high cost of reprinting and refitting menu displays.
Famous Wok initiated the launch of its digital signage network at two pilot locations, and the initial launch phase provided the brand with the opportunity to review the software, hardware and installation process of replacing static menu boards with digital menu boards.
E Display deployed five commercial-grade 47-inch HD displays at these two Famous Wok locations, and the screens were networked online using media player PCs selected to offer the quality and durability needed to perform in tough commercial environments.
As part of fully-managed service, E Display uses its proprietary signage-as-a-service platform, E Display SaaS, to manage the display content from a central location. The screens display a mixture of content ranging from Flash-based promotional and product information to the complete menu items offered by Famous Wok. A variety of menu layouts were created to let Famous Wok offer different products, prices and promotions.
