KFC returning to Newfoundland, Canada

June 4, 2012

Yum! Restaurants Canada is aggressively scouting new restaurant locations in Newfoundland as part of its Atlantic Canada growth strategy. For the first time in 20 years, the company is opening up new franchise opportunities in Newfoundland.

Yum! franchisees operate 80 restaurants in the Atlantic provinces, with more than half slated for renovations and upgrades throughout the next two years in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

"KFC restaurants in Newfoundland are performing very well and our updated franchise models represent an attractive business opportunity for the brand," said Yum! Canada president Sabir Sami, who joined the company three years ago to lead KFC's revitalization in that country. "Currently, we're scouting for new locations in the entire province and we hope the local business community and KFC fans will help show us where we should build our next KFC in Newfoundland."

There are currently 674 KFC restaurants across Canada.
