Krispy Kreme to roll out doughnuts made with Oreos

Feb. 7, 2013

From Feb. 19 through April 21, Krispy Kreme will feature its new "Cookies and Kreme Doughnut," filled with Oreo-flavored cream filling and Oreo cookie pieces. The doughnut be topped with dark chocolate icing and Oreo cookie pieces.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the limited-time offering will feature a traditional chocolate cake doughnut and is being produced through a licensing agreement with Oreo's parent company, Mondelez International Group.

The Oreo cookie has long been a staple on QSR menus. In July, Dunkin' Donuts introduced Oreo Coolattas and donuts.

Dairy Queen features an Oreo Cookie Jar Blizzard. Baskin-Robbins teamed up with Oreo in 2007 to create 10 Oreo-infused ice cream offerings. Carvel and Culver's both feature Oreo treats as well.

This isn't a debut for Krispy Kreme, either. In 2011, the brand added Oreo cookie pieces to its doughnuts and Chiller drink for the new Cookies and Kreme line.
