Long John Silver's updates menu for first time in a decade

Jan. 16, 2013

Long John Silver's has added new items to its menu, marking the chain's first major change to its offerings in more than a decade. According to Louisville (Ky.) Business First, some of these new items include a creamy garlic cod, sweet and zesty Asian cod and shrimp scampi.

The company has also revamped its hush puppies and tartar and cocktail sauces, and has added side dishes such as cole slaw, natural-cut french fries, green beans, rice, corn on the cob and onion rings.

The new menu items have been in test for about a year and were created in response to a consumer demand for non-fried food.

Long John Silver's new menu follows the launch of the chain's new tagline "That's What I Like," introduced to franchisees in September.

This rebranding represents the first new major marketing effort on behalf of Long John Silver's since it was purchased in late 2011 by LJS Partners LLC from Yum! Brands. LJS Partners LLC is a Louisville, Ky.-based buyers group of franchisees and private investors.
