McDonald's Canada launches McCafé retail line

McDonald's has introduced the McCafé Premium Roast take home coffee line, available for purchase only at participating McDonald's restaurants in Canada.

According to a news release, coffee drinkers average more than 5.3 billion annual servings of in-home coffee across Canada, with just more than two-thirds of Canadians (68 percent) consuming coffee at home.

"Enjoying a cup of coffee is a morning ritual for thousands of Canadians and we're giving them even more reasons to look forward to their first sip of the day," said John Betts, president and CEO of McDonald's Canada. "The introduction of McCafé Premium Roast take home coffee builds on our strong coffee credentials and is a natural evolution – providing a quality rich, full bodied cup of coffee with a smooth finish customers can now enjoy anytime, anywhere."

The introduction comes off the launch of the McCafé espresso-based beverages last year and the introduction of Real Fruit Smoothies in April.

"We believe our customers will love the convenience of having the same quality coffee at home as they enjoy in our restaurants," Betts added. "This is a game-changer for us and we're committed to meeting and exceeding our customer's expectations with this new product."

McDonald's medium roast McCafé Premium Roast take home coffee is made with finely ground, 100 percent Arabica beans and is sealed in a 340-gram bag with a one-way valve and seams to help ensure freshness. It is now available for a special introductory price of $6.99.
