McDonald's Germany jumps into augmented reality

McDonald's restaurants in Germany now feature an augmented reality app aimed at educating customers about the company's sustainability initiatives.

According to FandBnews, the app was launched to coincide with the release of McDonald's most recent Corporate Responsibility Report. It includes four interactive games that allow guests to learn about the company's sustainable efforts.

The four games conclude with a quiz to further educate customers. They are launched by scanning product packaging or images embedded in the report.

Philipp Wachholz, McDonald's Germany director of corporate affairs, said augmented reality technology was chosen because it "brings together the real restaurant experience with fascinating virtual animation."
