McDonald's Mighty Wings are back at a cheaper price point

McDonald's Mighty Wings have returned to the menu and are currently the focal point of the chain's social media marketing efforts. The chicken wings were originally introduced in the fall with a campaign that featured NFL quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Colin Kaepernick.

This time around, however, they're a little cheaper: a 5-pack is available for $3. During the chain's earlier wing promotion, they were $1 a wing.

During McDonald's Q3 earnings call, CEO Don Thompson said the Mighty Wings fell short of expectations, conceding that the original price point was off.

"There's a couple of things we can improve on. One, there's still affordability; $1 per wing was still not considered to be the most competitive in the current environment," he said.
