N.C. Arby's restaurants move to LED lighting

An Arby's operator in Indian Trail, N.C., recently signed an agreement with Miami-based Energy Saving Solutions (ESS) USA to install LED lighting.

ESS provided the restaurant with a "Lighting Savings Analysis," which showed the unit was spending more than $7,800 in annual lighting electricity with its old bulbs. The LEDs are estimated to cost the restaurant less than $2,300 per year, for an annual savings of $5,500.

Forty-two Arby's stores within the region will also be part of the installation. When the Energy Saving Solutions project is complete, annual savings should top $231,00 total, according to Peter Stein, founder and CEO of ESS.

"With the store hours Arby's maintains, the lights are obviously on for a long time and as a result, the meter is continually running. We are happy to be able to do our part," he said.
