Rita's Italian Ice announced it has awarded an area franchise agreement for 20 Rita's stores in South Orange County, Calif., to Howard Joelson and Joseph MacDougall.
Plans call for two Rita's stores opening soon and several more stores over the next five years; beginning with the first Rita's opening in Laguna Hills, at the recently renovated Village at Nellie Gail Ranch in May, and its second store, at Northpark Plaza in Irvine, this June.
"Laguna Hills is the perfect place to launch Rita's Italian Ice for us. Having lived in the area for over two decades, my family and I know firsthand how wonderful this community is, and given our climate, adults and children alike can enjoy our Ice and Custard year-round," Joelson said in a news release.
Now serving Italian Ice at Atlanta's Turner Field
Rita's Italian Ice also is now open at an Atlanta's Turner Field, the 49,000-seat baseball stadium and home of the Atlanta Braves.
According to a news release, franchisees Harry Jones and his son, Mike Jones, will run the four express units at the stadium. Rita's Italian Ice has four concession stands on the concourses located at sections 105, 233, 402 and 425, and will offer its Italian Ice in five flavors: Mango, Alex's Lemonade, Swedish Fish, Cotton Candy and Cherry, by the cup for $6 or in a souvenir Braves hat cup for $7.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer Rita's to the attendees and sports fans at Turner Field, one of the most iconic places in Atlanta," Harry Jones said in the release.
