Subway turns to gifs to promote JanuANY deal

Jan. 15, 2014

Earlier this week, Subway promoted its JanuANY campaign, offering signature Footlong subs for $5, through custom gifs on Twitter. The #JanuANY conversation took place on Twitter all day Tuesday and was facilitated through a partnership with Giphy.com, a company of gif artists who created more than 70 custom sub-themed gifs to reward the brand's followers.

The brand's "Famous Fans" Nastia Liukin and Torah Bright participated in the promotion, tweeting about the promotion receiving a custom sub-themed gif (a gymnastics sub and a snowboarding sub, respectively) in response.

According to a news release, Subway is the first QSR brand to work with Giphy.

Because of the gif promotion, #JanuANY was one of the top trending topics Tuesday on Twitter.
