Taco Bell beef lawsuit dropped

A lawsuit filed against Taco Bell in January has been dropped.

The suit, brought forth by Alabama-based law firm Beasley Allen on "behalf of all consumers," was voluntarily withdrawn after presented facts were reviewed. No money or other value was exchanged between the parties.

Although the lawsuit claimed Taco Bell misleads consumers about its seasoned beef, food quality and advertising, no changes to the company's practices will be made.

Specifically, the suit challenged Taco Bell's marketing tactics surrounding its seasoned beef filling, claiming a majority of it was non-meat.

Taco Bell refuted the claims with a widespread, transparent advertising bombardment that covered newspapers, TV, YouTube, Facebook and more, and also offered a free taco to customers as a thank you for their support through the drama.

Regarding the withdrawal, Greg Creed, CEO of Taco Bell, released a statement saying the record has finally been set straight about the quality of the chain's seasoned beef and integrity of its advertising.

"We are extremely proud of our food quality," he said. "We took great exception to the false claims made about our seasoned beef and wish the attorneys had contacted us before filing and publicizing a lawsuit that disparaged our brand. We hope the voluntary withdrawal of this lawsuit receives as much public attention as when it was filed so we may put the matter behind us and fully concentrate on serving our customers."
