White Castle adds location-based mobile couponing

White Castle has introduced mobile couponing, allowing fans to opt-in to receive deals via text messages sent directly to their phones. The new service, called Text2Crave, features customized, location-based alerts that offer promotions to fans whenever they're near a White Castle location.

"At White Castle, we're always looking for innovative ideas to stay connected with our customers," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle. "We found this interactive wireless program — Text2Crave — to be a natural fit with our Cravers since many of them carry mobile devices."

The program works on any phone with text messaging capabilities. To participate, fans text the keyword "CRAVE" to 25787. Text2Crave mobile alerts show up in real time when a guest is within a 1-to 5-mile radius of a White Castle. Those participating will receive a maximum of six messages per month. Standard text rates apply.

The coupons highlight some of White Castle's newest products, from Angus steak chili and brownie on a stick, to deals on Sliders and other items.

The Indianapolis (39 restaurants) market is currently running the Text2Crave test program through March 31. Participants receive two free Original Sliders for signing up to receive the alerts.

White Castle is working with Placecast as the mobile technology partner for this program.

Anyone wanting to opt out of the program can text the word "STOP" TO 25787 and no additional offers will be sent.

Super Bowl promos

Additionally, White Castle has rolled out deals in time for the Super Bowl, including a $5 off coupon for a Crave Case of any 30 Sliders for guests who order online using the promo code "Football." The offer ends Feb. 3.

And from now through Feb. 11, guests can enter to win a Crave Crate daily, or the grand prize premium home theater system. The grand prize includes an Onkyo 1030-Watt 3D 7.1 Network Home Theater.
