White Castle stores choose how much each wants to decorate and what the staff will wear. One store goes so far as to use fabric to create private booths for customers, said White Castle Louisville Region director Eddie Smith.

The White Castle locations in the Louisville, KY region receive donated linens from its linen service provider and donated flowers from its florist to use on Valentine's Day.

White Castle locations print menus for the evening, with listings of the regular menu and prices as well as a Sweetheart Special for the night for $9.99. The menus also include a coupon on the back for two free White Castle hamburgers.

Couples of all ages make use of the Valentine’s Day event, from those coming for the first time to repeat visitors. Eddie Smith, Louisville Region Director, said that one Louisville location has had a large return since.
