If the pandemic has proven anything about what it takes to succeed in today's restaurant environment, it's that only the ultra-adaptable and nimble organizations that can change on a dime will survive. And if you ever wanted a prime example of that in action, you would do well to listen to a recent live webinar documenting how an emerging Frisco, Texas taco brand and its POS provider, Revention, flexxed to meet — and then exceed — community expectations in the restricted operating environment of the pandemic.
In the hour-long session, "Converting to Curbside and Delivery: How to Make the Shift and Thrive," Crush Taco owner Mo Assi details how he, his staff and the experts at Revention managed to – pardon the pun – "crush it" when it comes to being responsive to what customers wanted and needed even after pandemic-related business restrictions took effect. In the session, you'll also hear from Revention Product Manager Jillian Kessler, who detailed how Revention technologically brought the innovations that Assi and his team developed to life.
Those creative changes all began, in Crush Taco's case, in mid-March when restaurants were just beginning to close their doors and transition to total carryout and delivery operations. As that happened, families around Crush Taco in Frisco started seeking help with meals from their favorite restaurants. Crush Taco wasn't about to let that potential business go to waste.
"It really forced us to come up with a completely new menu item in 24 hours. … ," Assi told participants in the live webinar on May 26. "We were forced to make the decision to make a family meal. … We had to keep it fresh."
Almost immediately too, the brand began offering store pickup of its offerings, with the help of the technology put in place by Revention.
"We were evolving with the trend," Assi relayed of how the staff of his restaurant and Revention responded to the many challenges the pandemic generated. "We knew we had to adjust and thrive or lay down and we weren't going to lay down."
Assi's hard-charging, "just-get-it-done" approach to quickly transitioning his business in response the pandemic's rapid alteration of the restaurant business environment is even visually reinforced during the webinar: As he speaks, participants can see artwork a charging bull immediately behind him, visually driving home the kind of attitude brands have had to take to survive over the last several months.
The webinar is, in short, one restaurant brand's story of going with the flow, even when that flow — as in the pandemic's case — is a raging torrent. For restaurateurs of all ilk this instructive webinar is a lesson in operational agility. You can listen to the on-demand version of the session, simply by clicking here.
