QSRs get gobbled up in turkey talk

QSRs are giving diners lots of ways to wear and eat their turkey this year, beginning with Arby's turkey-stuffed pillow hat, designed to help diners this year to comfortably doze off after their bird-induced post-Thanksgiving comas strikes. Unfortunately, the $59.99 pillows, which a release describes as "part stylish sleep mask, part cloud, part hat," are already sold out.

Of course, Arby's is using the hats to push their own assortment of deep-fried turkey sandwiches this season, but the birds have antique-of-the-future written all over their featherless exteriors, as the brand illustrates in this "how-to" infomercial released with the pillow kick-off.

Arby's is giving customers a chance to win a hat by entering a drawing at ArbysDeepFriedTurkeyPillow.com. The brand is also giving its fans a virtual pillow try-on using Snapchat or Instagram filters.

The brand's turkey LTOs include Deep Fried Turkey Club, Market Fresh Cranberry Deep Fried Turkey Sandwich and Market Fresh Cranberry Deep Fried Turkey Wrap.

"Our Deep Fried Turkey sandwiches are one of our guests' returning favorites, and we wanted to take a different approach to this limited-time offering," Patrick Schwing, CMO of Arby's, said in the release. "This holiday season, leave the deep frying to us — the meat experts. And once you've enjoyed one of our deep-fried turkey sandwiches or the wrap, you can rest with the Deep Fried Turkey Pillow Hat. It's the complete holiday experience."

Want some turkey cake?

For turkey tasters seeking something a little sweeter than a turkey-wrapped nap, Baskin-Robbins is bringing back its caramel-praline-glazed Turkey cake made with two sugar-cone legs and a breast full of ice cream.

And like all waddle-wearing gobblers of this season, even the ice cream version, requires a mastery of carving skills, as demonstrated in the brand's "how-to" video.

For the turkey-averse, the brand is also offering more traditional LTOs, including a pumpkin- and leaf-topped Harvest Swirl Cake and Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream with pumpkin- and cheesecake-flavored ice creams swirled with gingersnap cookie pieces and a cinnamon cream cheese ribbon.

The offerings are available throughout November and some are available for delivery, as well.
