With beef prices this year hitting a record high since 2003, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, many restaurants are focusing on marketing cheaper proteins from their menus to cut food costs. That's a mistake, according to this new infographic from FastCasual.com and The Beef Checkoff, which found that beef menu items can help increase traffic and check spend at restaurants.

The infographic looks at how beef – still the No. 1 source of protein on restaurant menus – can drive profits. It also shows that offering a variety of different cuts of high-quality beef can help lower costs in the long run.
