Frankly, we were kind of partial to the name "Burperrito" for the new burger-burrito combination that Burger King introduced today, but then, we're not as familiar with the key ingredients as the folks at Burger King clearly are. They have dubbed their new burger-burrito mashup "Whopperito" and we have to admit, it is kinda fun to say.
The new mélange of the two ultra-popular edibles makes its official nationwide debut on Aug. 15 and features the brand's signature flame-grilled beef in a combination conceived by one of the chain's franchisees. In a news release, the company said the franchisee's idea was such a hit that the brand decided to get behind the Whopperito system-wide.
The limited-time offer blends the infinitely popular Tex-Mex flavor profile with the 60-year-old Whopper flavor profile. The two are put together in a combination with layers of tomatoes, onions, lettuce and pickles. Then the whole thing is smothered in queso sauce and wrapped up in a flour tortilla like the great big end-of-summer present it is.
"We’re infusing classic American fare with Tex-Mex flare," said Burger King North America President Alex Macedo. "The Whopperrito is a new interpretation of the Tex-Mex trend in a way that only Burger King restaurants could imagine and uses the classic flame-grilled 100 percent beef Whopper sandwich meat to set this burger-burrito hybrid apart from other burritos out there."
The Whopperito rollout comes just a few weeks after the introduction of that other nutritionist's nightmare from Burger King — Mac n’ Cheetos, which, as the name implies, features macaroni and cheese inside a Cheetos crust.
So, what was that you were saying about trying to eat healthier?
