We all know Gen Z is a unique generation in the workforce. But a recent webinar shed light on how businesses can bridge the gap and achieve high retention rates with this tech-savvy demographic.

The webinar, titled "5 Secrets from top QSRs to increase Gen Z retention" sponsored by Workstream and hosted by Networld Media Group delved into key learnings from studying successful brands like Chick-fil-A and Culver's. Experts analyzed how these companies are attracting and keeping top young talent.

The speaker for the event was Daniel Blaser, hiring specialist and podcast host for Workstream. Blaser has interviewed hundreds of HR leaders across the restaurants industry and has gleaned unique insights about hiring, retention and operations within the hourly workforce. Mandy Wolf Detwiler, editor of Pizza Marketplace and QSRweb, moderated the event.

Born between 1997 and 2012, they've grown up around computers and electronics. Gen Z is set to overtake Boomers in the workforce this year. The average expected turnover in the next six months is 48%.

"They really have grown up with technology, they're digital first, they're comfortable around it and a lot of Gen Z maybe prefers communication through digital means," Blaser said. That could change the way you attract and hire workers.
