September 5, 2007
The Associated Press — Starbucks Corp. and Apple Inc. have announced a deal that will allow Starbucks' customers to buy and download music through a new wireless iTunes service.
Apple's wireless iPod music player, iPhone or any laptop computer running iTunes will recognize automatically the iTunes store without a connection fee when customers enter a Starbucks shop with Wi-Fi access.
The new iTunes service, scheduled to roll out Oct. 2 in New York and Seattle, will include a feature displaying the name of whatever song is playing in the store at the time.
