Arby's: '10 new Canadian locations a great new beginning, eh?'

Arby's has signed development agreements to build 10 restaurants in Canada over the next three years, creating up to 300 jobs, a news release said. This marks the largest expansion in Canada for Arby's since 2009. It has 65 restaurants in the country, but said in its news release that the brand is primed for aggressive growth there going forward.
 
"These new development agreements demonstrate a strong level of confidence in Arby's," Arby's Chief Development Officer Greg Vojnovic, said in a news release."Canada is a market where we see significant growth potential, particularly in Vancouver and Toronto."
 
Development agreements were signed with Mazhar Malik and Santosh Menon to open an initial five restaurants in Calgary, as well as with Daljit Singhrai to add four restaurants to his portfolio of Arby's units in Vancouver. A third agreement was signed with Gloria Holliwel to open one additional restaurant to her portfolio in Edmonton.
 
In 2016, Arby's opened 60 restaurants across the company's global system and achieved net-positive restaurant growth for the first time since 2008. In the first quarter of 2017, ARG signed 29 development agreements for 86 new restaurants in the U.S, where the brand has racked up 26 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth, while outperforming the industry for more than 17 consecutive quarters. 

Since 2012, Arby's individual restaurant average sales have surged more than 25 percent to over $1.1 million, a news release said. The brand remains on track to achieve $4 billion in system sales by the end of 2018, as stated in the company's 2014 goals.
