Arby's launched its Angus Cool Deli Sandwich across the country today.
The item features USDA Choice Top Round Angus Beef, thinly-sliced and served cool, and topped with Swiss cheese, diced banana peppers, pickles, lettuce, tomato and onion, a tangy sub vinaigrette and mayo. It is served on either a toasted Italian-style roll or a whole grain wrap.
The new Ultimate Angus Cool Deli Sandwich and Wrap are available for a suggested price of $4.99, or as a combo for $6.99. It is the second offering in Arby's new Angus line introduced nationwide in March 2011 with the Angus Three Cheese & Bacon Sandwich. The introduction of the line was complemented by the launch of Arby's new "It's Good Mood Food" tagline.
According to Brian Kolodziej, Arby's vice president of product development and integration, the sandwich's inspiration came from his time spent growing up in New Hampshire and eating a Grinder during the summer. According to Chef Brian's Blog, the idea of the sandwich was developed very quickly.
"Clearly, the Angus Roast Beef is the hero in this sandwich, but it has plenty of complementing ingredients, like Swiss cheese, garlicky pickles, and fresh produce dressed in an herb vinaigrette that provides a splash of vinegar," he wrote. "This Angus Cool Deli sandwich also represents a new approach for us at Arby's. As the name suggests, the Angus Roast Beef is thinly sliced and served chilled like you'd get from your local deli."
