Arby's asks 'Would you like meat-emblazoned lederhosen with that?'

October 9, 2019

It's the season of all things lederhosen-wearing and beer stein-bearing, otherwise known as Oktoberfest time. But at Arby's that celebration just didn't have enough meat on the bone, so the brand is launching its so-called "Meatoberfest" this Friday, combining its many meats with some of the traditional wear and equipment of the Oktoberfest season as part of a fall sandwich and swag shop launch, a news release said.

The swag shop will likely be mobbed this Friday by the most carnivorous QSR customers who want to plunk down $30 each for any one of these handmade, "not two alike," meat-emblazoned items:

  • Meaterhosen: These custom-printed meat slice-emblazoned versions of the traditional suspender-bearing leather shorts typically worn by men — leiderhosen — are available for all sexes at Arby's.
  • Das Hat: An upside-down hand-blown glass version ofthe Arby's 10-gallon hat, designed for beer, though we're guessing the brand is okay with customers filling it with just about anything ... but vegetables, maybe.
  • Beefvarian Hat: That well-known little felt Bavarian-style topper, only this one has bacon accents instead of feathers tucked into the band.

And oh yeah, again, this is all to announce the brand's new line of fall Germany-inspired sandwiches. All three feature beer cheese sauce, beer-braised beef, beer mustard and a toasted pretzel roll. They include:

  • Beer Braised Beef.
  • Beer Cheese 'n Double Beef.
  • Beer Cheese Triple Stack.
