Arby's employee's creation earns a spot on the menu

October 20, 2014

Brandon Morris, an employee at an Arby's restaurant in Danville, Kentucky, has been named the winner in the Hey Chef Neville! contest, a systemwide menu idea submission contest open to all 71,000 company-owned and franchise restaurant team members, field operations and Support Center employees. The contest was first introduced in 2012.

Morris' winning idea, the King's Hawaiian Fish Deluxe sandwich, will be offered at restaurants nationwide as a limited-time offer beginning in late December and extending through March 2015.

Morris was recognized at Arby's recent Worldwide Franchise Convention in Las Vegas, presented with an award trophy, a $1,500 check and an official Arby's chef jacket.

"I am thrilled that Arby's responded so well to my idea for the King's Hawaiian Fish Deluxe sandwich," Morris said in a news release. "The Classic Fish sandwich has always a big hit among our guests, so I thought what better way to make a popular sandwich even better than to add a sweet, flaky King's Hawaiian bun."

The sandwich features a fillet of breaded, sustainable Alaskan Pollack, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, Hawaiian pickle and a King's Hawaiian bun.

Arby's is partnering with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute to offer the variation of the chain's signature classic fish sandwich.
