Arby's opens unit at Ft. Bliss

November 4, 2010

Arby's Restaurant Group Inc., a subsidiary of Wendy's/Arby's Group, has opened its first Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) unit at Ft. Bliss, Texas. The restaurant is located in the Freedom Crossing shopping center.

The opening is part of a development agreement signed earlier this year with AAFES to open more units on U.S. military installations.

Arby's joins a number of other quick-service chains that have explored military locations. More Arby's units are currently in development in Ft. Carson, Colo., and Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Additional expansion deals also are currently being explored by the chain and AAFES.

"Partnering with Arby's is consistent with our desire to bring a 'taste of home' to soldiers and airmen, regardless of where they serve," said Tom Branning, VP, food and theater, AAFES.

AAFES will serve signature Arby's items such as its roast beef and Beef 'n Cheddar sandwiches, curly fries, Jamocha shakes, deli-style sandwiches and its Value Menu.
