Arby's quarter, year-end comps flat

November 8, 2007

ATLANTA — Arby's systemwide same-store sales were relatively flat in both the 2007 third quarter and first nine months ended Sept. 30, 2007, compared to an increase of 5 percent in the 2006 third quarter and a 4 percent increase during the 2006 first nine months, parent company Triarc reported.

The increases in the same-store sales of franchised restaurants were substantially offset by decreases in same-store sales of company-owned restaurants, the company said.

For the quarter, revenues increased to $324.2 million, up from $311.7 million reported during 3Q '06. Year-to-date, revenues are $943 million, up from $911.3 million reported during the 2006 first nine months.

Net income increased to $3.7 million for the quarter, up from $0.7 million reported in the 2006 third quarter. Year-to-date, the company reported a net loss of $17.2 million, compared with a net loss of $8.8 million in the 2006 first nine months.

The company said the changes reflect the after-tax effects of facilities relocation and corporate restructuring charges, and in general and administrative expenses in the 2007 third quarter and nine month periods.
