Arby's has the meats -- to go

Arby's is underlining its status as the "meats" QSR by launching a service out of select Atlanta-area locations that allows customers to order its roasted turkey, ham and corned beef by the pound and half-pound in to-go packages, the brand said in an email to QSRweb.

Arby's CMO Peter Schwing said the program was a byproduct of pandemic-era consumers' ongoing need to not just buy fast food meals, but make meals at home themselves.

"This idea was born from Arby's desire to innovate during a difficult time to best serve our customers," Schwing said in an email. "Through this offering, we are able to provide a product that not only have our guest repeatedly asked for, but we can do it in an easy, socially distant drive-thru setting. We are excited to see a positive response thus far and look forward to using this test to determine if and when the program can be scaled to additional markets."

The test, which was not widely announced by the brand, ends Sept. 30. The offerings at the Atlanta stores include half-pound quantities of sliced roast turkey, pit-smoked ham and New York-style corned beef for $4.99, while pounds go for $8.99 each.

Arby's and its parent company, Inspire Brands, is also based in Atlanta.
